The Essence Service are glad to welcome Sunderland Council who will be providing a presentation to our clients and carers regarding Assistive Technology.
This will be held on Wednesday 18th September, 10am to 12pm at
our main Essence Service building, The Sir Thomas Allen Centre, Mill Hill Road, Doxford Park, Sunderland, SR3 2ND.
What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive Technology is equipment which enables a person to do something they would not be able to do without support.
The City of Sunderland is implementing smart technology to support clients and carers to maintain their independence. A wide range of technology devices are available for clients to help with their daily needs, as well as devices which can allow carers to remotely monitor if important tasks such as feeding, drinking and taking medication are actually happening. If it is not happening the carer can contact the person to prompt them to do so.
You do not have to be a technical expert to benefit from Assistive Technology.
Please come along to this informative session and see how Assistive Technology can be used in daily life to support people living with dementia to maintain independence for as long as possible.
